Millbrook Boats owner John Kazimierczyk recently updated the seat in my Sawyer DY Special 17. This a 1985 Goldenglass build that had the original fiberglass seat attached to wooden sliders. John installed a sliding seat and footbrace assembly with a bulkhead and additional thwart to increase the stiffness of the hull. This is a similar design modification as Mike Packard had installed in his own Sawyer (thanks, Packman!). Millbrook Boats continues to produce world class whitewater canoes and kayaks. If you’re fortunate enough to get John when he’s not too busy, I highly recommend his services for repairs and modifications to your flatwater canoe.

Millbrook boats are the lightest WW open canoes you can find in North America. They are also relatively affordable compared to other composite boats. I have used and abused the Rival John built for me. I am getting another one. You can count on John.

First day out in the 20/20, I was impressed to say the least! The boat is dry even at my 230lbs weight(float me high), the boat accelerate nicely, really good at point and shoot w/o needing much effort to get it there, ferries really really well, supper predictable, super stable, hold a tilt w/o having to work at it! Surf really well and carve the wave smoothly! One thing that it is not good at is attainment, but that is ok, I have a Prowler for that!! Over all an excellent boat for heavier paddlers that want a boat that float them high and that is super nimble, that is easy to swing around and can be paddled from the bow super efficiently!! Thank you John for making these super water crafts!!
